Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
What width should I allow for the Delta 4470 mini crib?
Delta lists the assembled 4470 at 39 inches wide by 25 inches deep and 37.25 inches high. With the finder’s half-inch steps, 39 inches is the first width ceiling that includes it; that is an outside product dimension, not room or access clearance.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the 4470 have wheels in its mini-crib setup?
Yes. Delta's product page says wheels are included, and the exact Style 4470 manual lists four casters for the mini crib. The sources do not establish that the crib should be rolled while occupied or document a caster-locking feature.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the 4470 become a full-size crib later?
No later full-size crib, bassinet or bed conversion is documented in the reviewed 4470 product record and instructions. It is a mini crib with two mattress-support positions, not a multi-stage conversion system.
Explore this need in the finder →Delta Children’s model 4470 is a folding mini crib listed in White (4470-100) and Grey (4470-026). The current product data groups both finishes under one ID and establishes no function difference. This assessment compares the maker’s page/data with its linked instructions. I have not assembled, owned, moved, tested or physically measured the crib.
Mini crib, but still a long rectangle
Delta lists the assembled footprint as 39 inches wide by 25 inches deep, with a height of 37.25 inches. “Mini” describes its mini-size sleep surface and product category, not a promise that every side is short. On the finder’s half-inch width scale, 38.5 inches excludes the 4470 and 39 inches is the first selectable ceiling that includes its listed width. That is the frame dimension only: allow separate space for the room route, adjacent furniture, access to the crib and setup.
Although the page says the crib folds nearly flat and the booklet illustrates folding, I did not find an exact folded-frame footprint. Parcel shipping dimensions are not a storage measurement. Treat folding as a storage operation, not a sleep mode or proof the assembled crib will fit through a doorway.
What is included, and what is not
Delta’s current page describes an included 1.5-inch mattress measuring 37.5 by 23.25 inches, plus four casters shown in the assembly instructions. It lists two mattress-support positions. The instructions say to lower the support when a child can pull to standing and to stop use when the child can climb out or reaches 35 inches. These are model instructions, not a child-specific readiness assessment; follow the booklet and label that actually accompany the crib.
No bassinet, midi, full-size crib or later bed arrangement appears in the examined model record or instructions. The 4470 is therefore a mini-only setup in this library, not a long-term convertible system. A family that needs a later full-size crib should compare an actual conversion system instead of treating the 4470’s two support heights as conversion stages. Its included mattress is mini-size; it does not meet a request for an included standard full-size crib mattress.
Read the mattress instructions with care
The current Delta listing says to use its provided mattress and describes the included 1.5-inch surface. There is also a manual-version wrinkle worth checking before replacing a mattress or buying an older unit. Booklet A is explicit about Style 4470 R0 and gives minimum dimensions of 36⅞ by 22⅜ inches and a maximum thickness of 2 inches. The same current product page links a newer Portable Crib Booklet E, whose cover identifies document 43214 R0 but does not print “4470”; its warning states minima of 37 by 23 inches, also with a 2-inch maximum. Those two source texts differ on the minimums. The listed included mattress dimensions exceed both sets of minima, but that does not establish which booklet applies to every production lot or approve a replacement mattress. Use only the Delta-provided surface described by the crib’s own label/manual, do not add a mattress or soft padding, and ask Delta to identify the correct instructions for the exact unit if its documents differ.
Wheels and folding are practical details, not travel guarantees
The product page promotes smooth-gliding wheels and says they make moving the crib around the home easier. Booklet A lists four casters and shows where to install them; it does not document a wheel-lock feature in the inspected text. I would not interpret “portable” or “wheels” as permission to roll the crib with a child inside—the reviewed page and booklet do not settle that use case. For day-to-day movement, confirm the complete frame is erected and the rails are engaged as the manual shows, and follow the instructions that came with the exact crib.
There is also an unresolved weight basis. The White page lists 28.66 pounds as “Product Weight” and 35.5 pounds as “Shipping Weight”; the product-data feed gives a raw variant-weight value of 16103 without a weight-unit field. I do not treat these as a reconciled carry weight. If lifting or stairs matter, verify the item weight with Delta rather than using parcel weight as an assembled measurement.
How it compares with other mini-crib paths
The Delta 4470 is a narrower listed width than the separate Delta Classic Mini 544550, which measures 41.25 inches wide and includes a thicker 2.75-inch mattress; the 544550 assessment describes a separate twin-bed route. The 4470 instead lists a 39-inch width, a 1.5-inch supplied mattress and casters, with no later conversion plan in its reviewed documents. Those distinctions matter more than treating both simply as “mini cribs.” DaVinci’s Charlie M12898 is another foldable mini-crib system, but its documented choices include a bassinet arrangement and a separate twin conversion; that is a different plan, not a feature to transfer to Delta’s 4470.
Delta’s page also claims GREENGUARD Gold certification and JPMA certification, and describes New Zealand pine and TSCA-compliant engineered wood. These are manufacturer statements in the product copy; I did not conduct emissions or materials testing. A narrow SaferProducts.gov query for “4470” returned an empty response, which is not lot-, serial-, used-unit- or future-notice clearance.
Who should shortlist the 4470?
It is worth comparing when the intended sleep arrangement is a mini crib from the start, a 39-by-25-inch assembled footprint works, and having the maker-listed mattress, casters and a folding frame in one product appeals. It is a poor fit for someone who requires a full-size crib later, a bassinet stage, a documented caster brake, verified folded dimensions, or an independently reconciled carry weight. Before ordering, match the full 4470 model and exact finish code, confirm the seller’s carton includes the 1.5-inch mattress and four casters, compare your room and doorway measurements with the assembled footprint, and identify the manual that applies to the crib’s label. Do not infer live stock, exact package condition or safe use from the model name alone.
