A useful fit for

A plausible fit for a household that wants an included bassinet and standard crib route, values the Palma’s tapered-leg furniture profile, and has room for a 53.75-by-30-inch crib; its midi step is optional rather than built into the base package.

The main tradeoff

The 8-in-1 label spans separately sold midi parts, while the full-size crib mattress is also separate. The reviewed M15980 instructions do not state a Palma-specific bassinet cutoff, so that detail needs direct manual verification.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can Palma start as a bassinet and later become a standard crib?

Yes. Babyletto lists both the bassinet and full-size crib among the included M15980 system arrangements. Plan for the eventual 53.75-by-30-inch standard crib footprint from the start.

Are the Palma midi arrangements included in the 8-in-1 package?

No. Babyletto sells the M15979 midi conversion kit separately. It adds midi crib, midi toddler bed and midi daybed setups and includes its custom two-inch pad; confirm finish-matched SKUs if that step matters.

Does Palma include its standard crib mattress?

No. The full-size mattress is separate; the manual requires at least 51 5/8 by 27 1/4 inches and no more than six inches thick. The bassinet and optional midi use different manufacturer pads.

What is the exact weight or developmental limit for the Palma bassinet?

I could not verify a Palma-specific bassinet occupant-weight or developmental cutoff in the M15980 manual reviewed. Do not assume the 17.5-pound rule printed in other All-Stages manuals applies; consult the current M15980 instructions and any supplied warning before use.

The Palma M15980 combines a bassinet and standard crib path with a furniture-like tapered-leg frame. Its advertised “8-in-1” range includes a wrinkle worth catching before purchase: five arrangements are part of the base system, while the three midi configurations require the separate M15979 conversion kit. The standard full-size mattress is separate as well. This is a source-based review of Babyletto’s product listings and instructions, not a hands-on assessment.

Know which three stages require an accessory

The included M15980 family covers bassinet, full-size crib, full-size toddler bed, full-size daybed and junior bed. The M15979 kit adds midi crib, midi toddler bed and midi daybed. The kit is not a second crib product; it is a model-specific accessory whose instructions use components retained from the M15980 setup. Babyletto lists the kit in Natural Walnut and Honey, with finish-matched M15979NL and M15979HY identifiers. If the intermediate size is important, confirm both the accessory SKU and what parts, hardware and two-inch pad are included in the seller’s offer. The product name’s eight arrangements are not evidence that the midi parts are in the base carton.

That package makes Palma different from Pogo M29880, whose listing says all conversion kits are included, and similar in one important respect to Rolli M30880, whose optional midi stages also require a separate matching kit. Palma’s product identity is otherwise distinct: its tapered legs and lower profile create a furniture-style appearance. Its full-size dimension graphic lists a 31-inch width, while the product text says 30 inches; I use 31 inches as the conservative room-planning value until the discrepancy is resolved. That is slightly wider than Rolli at 29.75 inches and matches Pogo’s listed 31-inch width.

Measure both the crib and the optional midi

The M15980 product text gives the assembled full-size crib as 53.75 by 30 by 36 inches, with a 52-by-28-inch interior and assembled weight of 75.9 pounds. Its exact-model dimension graphic instead shows the full-size crib as 53.75 by 31 by 36 inches. I have not silently chosen one as authoritative; for a measurement-dependent shortlist, the fact library uses the larger 31-inch width conservatively and the product assessment flags the unresolved conflict. The separate M15979 listing gives the midi crib as 36.5 by 31 by 30.5 inches and 22.25 pounds. The manufacturer dimension graphic also shows the bassinet at 31.25 by 19.75 by 30.5 inches. The midi is shorter but just as wide as the conservative full-size figure, a detail that is easy to miss if you compare only length. Leave additional room for access, the route into the nursery and conversion work.

Use the right pad or mattress for the stage

Babyletto identifies a one-inch pad for the bassinet configuration, and the separate M15979 kit includes a custom two-inch midi pad. The midi instructions require a manufacturer-provided sleep surface at least 35.75 inches long by 28 inches wide, no more than four inches thick, with no gap over one inch; the kit’s pad is not a standard crib mattress. The full-size crib mattress is sold separately. The M15980 manual calls for a full-size mattress at least 51⅝ inches long by 27¼ inches wide and no more than six inches thick. Check those rules against the exact stage and supplied part, rather than assuming one surface will cover multiple modes.

The listing’s stage count also means the hardware and instructions change over time. If you expect to use the midi setup, keep the M15980 and M15979 instructions together and confirm that all conversion pieces are present before buying a used or open-box crib. The kit manual reuses casters from the M15980 crib/bassinet assembly for the midi crib; the full-size Palma images show tapered legs rather than casters. That is a documented setup difference, not a claim that every stage can roll.

Do not borrow a bassinet cutoff from another model

The reviewed M15980 manual states that full-size crib use should stop when a child begins to climb out or reaches 35 inches. Its junior-bed warning gives a minimum intended age of 15 months and maximum user weight of 50 pounds. The separate M15979 instructions set a 50-pound maximum for midi toddler-bed and daybed arrangements. However, I did not find a distinct Palma bassinet occupant-weight or developmental stop rule in the M15980 manual reviewed. Babyletto’s other All-Stages manuals include a 17.5-pound bassinet limit, but it would be unsafe to assume that same number applies to the Palma without M15980-specific support. Check the exact current Palma instructions and any warning supplied with the product before use; this assessment leaves that bassinet cutoff unknown.

Who may prefer the Palma?

The Palma may fit a household that values its tapered-leg silhouette, wants an included bassinet and full-size crib path, and has space for the eventual 53.75-by-30-inch crib. The optional midi stage adds another size step, and the accessory’s own dimensions make it possible to measure that configuration before buying. Babyletto describes sustainable materials and claims GREENGUARD Gold certification; those are manufacturer claims, not independent findings from this review.

It is less attractive if you want all eight stages in the base package, need verified dimensions for every early stage before deciding, or want wheels documented in the full-size crib. The 75.9-pound listed full-size assembly and separate mattress and midi kit mean the advertised conversion count should be weighed against parts management and purchase checks. This review did not assemble, move or test the Palma. A keyword-only CPSC search for “Palma” returned no record, but that is not model- or lot-level clearance and does not replace checking the product label, the live recall database or used-unit history.

Confirm the M15980 and M15979 identifiers

Babyletto lists Natural Walnut (M15980NL) and Honey (M15980HY) for the crib. Before ordering, match the crib label to the exact finish, verify whether the listing includes only the five base arrangements or also the M15979 kit, and check the correct manuals, mattress and pad requirements. The primary references are Babyletto’s M15980 product page, M15980 manual, M15979 kit listing and M15979 instructions. Current availability, retailer package contents, price and return terms were not evaluated.
