A useful fit for

A useful comparison when the scalloped front apron, multiple finish choices, and a 29.5-inch listed full-size crib width suit the room plan.

The main tradeoff

The base offer does not establish a full-size crib mattress or either M12599/M5789 conversion kit; check each exact package and finish separately.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does Sammy Scallop meet a 29.5-inch full-size crib width ceiling?

Yes. The manufacturer lists an outside width of 29.5 inches. This does not include space for access or assembly, and Marisol is also listed at 29.5 inches.

Does the M27801 base crib offer establish an included full-size crib mattress?

No. The product page presents mattress selections separately; confirm the seller's exact package and use the M27801 manual's mattress and gap limits.

Which toddler-bed rail is listed for Sammy Scallop M27801?

The M27801 product and conversion references identify M12599 as the separate toddler-bed rail. The later M5789 bed rails are another accessory; verify exact model compatibility before ordering.

The DaVinci Sammy Scallop M27801 is a full-size crib with a shallow scalloped apron below the front rail and a broad choice of listed finishes. Its current manufacturer data shows six finish SKUs, including Walnut M27801L, the version in our reference photograph. The product page lists the assembled frame at 53.75 inches long, 29.5 inches wide, and 35 inches high. A 29.5-inch outside width places it in the same stated-width group as Marisol F30301 and a half inch inside Jayden M5981; it does not mean that 29.5 inches of room width is enough. Account separately for access, doorways, bedside furniture, delivery turns, and space to work during assembly or conversion.

The scalloped detail is a style difference, not a fit feature

The lower curved trim gives Sammy Scallop a recognizable front profile, while the M27801 product page also describes coordinating dressers and bookcase furniture. That collection look may matter to someone planning a matched room, but the crib assessment should remain about the sleep product itself. The official image shows the Walnut M27801 in full-size crib mode, with a mattress in place. It is not a package photograph and does not establish that the mattress is sold with the base crib. Verify the finish code and mattress inclusion on the actual order rather than using a staged image as a bill of materials.

DaVinci calls it a four-in-one crib. The product page identifies a crib, toddler bed, daybed, and full-size bed; the toddler conversion hardware is the separately sold M12599 and the full-size bed rail is M5789. The conversion page connects those accessory codes to crib model M27801. The crib’s name therefore describes a possible path, not four simultaneous sleeping places or a set of all future parts in the base box. Before buying a later rail, confirm both the crib model and the conversion accessory code. Do not substitute M12599 or M5789 based only on a similar appearance or a generic listing title.

Mattress and stage limits to check

The M27801 page offers a mattress choice separately from the crib, and the manual specifies a full-size crib mattress at least 51 5/8 inches long and 27 1/4 inches wide, no thicker than six inches. It warns that the mattress must fit without a dangerous gap. This is a product-specific crib-mode requirement; the name of a later bed or a mattress selected in a bundle does not remove the need to read that mode’s own instructions. The book also directs the assembler to lower the mattress support once a child can pull to standing and to stop crib use when the child begins to climb out or reaches 35 inches. Its conversion instructions have separate warnings for later modes. Keep those directions attached to the relevant setup instead of treating the crib’s overall 50-pound maximum as one rule for every conversion.

DaVinci lists four adjustable mattress-support positions, a 52-by-28-inch interior, a 52.4-pound assembled weight, and a 50-pound maximum for the crib. It also reports a 135-pound slat-strength value. The outside width, inside measurement, weight, and child-use warnings answer different questions. Measure the frame for the room, follow the manual for the mattress, and use the exact crib instructions for support positions and stop conditions. We did not test or measure the frame independently.

What the manufacturer says about construction

The product page describes New Zealand pine together with TSCA-compliant engineered wood, a multi-step painted finish, and GREENGUARD Gold certification. Those details are manufacturer claims, not independent confirmation of every component, finish, or emissions result in the M27801. The bright finishes are a genuine choice among the manufacturer-listed variants, but no functional distinction among them is established by the retrieved product data. Walnut is the photographed edition; the five other listed colors should be treated as finish variants unless separate evidence shows a functional difference.

Who should compare this crib?

Sammy Scallop is worth comparing if the scalloped apron and color range suit the room and its 29.5-inch listed width fits the first measurement. Its dimensions are close to Marisol’s, but the two models differ in styling and conversion details: Marisol’s manual names M19699 for its toddler rail, while Sammy Scallop uses M12599; both pages identify M5789 for a later bed. Jayden is wider at 31 inches and has a curved headboard rather than the scalloped rail. These differences are more useful than a generic “four-in-one” label when checking a seller’s package. Confirm a standard full-size crib mattress, the selected finish SKU, and any optional rail separately. This assessment is a comparison of manufacturer pages, product data, and instructions; no hands-on use, assembly, or performance test is represented.
