DaVinci Sammy Scallop Cottage M27841 4-in-1 Convertible Crib review

Do not confuse M27841 with Sammy Scallop M27801

DaVinci lists Sammy Scallop Cottage as a separate 4-in-1 crib, model M27841, currently represented in the captured product data by Honey SKU M27841HY. It is not another finish of Sammy Scallop M27801. The M27841 has a tall, solid-panel cottage-style headboard with a shaped scalloped inset; M27801 has a lower scalloped apron and its own product record and manual. The name overlap is not enough to transfer an image, dimension, accessory or package claim between them.

The M27841’s listed outside dimensions are 54.5 inches long, 29.25 inches wide and 42.25 inches high. The assembled weight is 58.3 pounds, the interior is listed at 52 by 28 inches, and the front rail-to-floor measure is 35 inches. The width first fits a 29.5-inch half-inch finder ceiling, but the tall panel and weight make width only one part of planning. Measure the route from the door, the height of any tight turn, room for assembly and clearance around the crib; a wall-to-wall width number cannot answer those questions.

Mattress fit and crib-use conditions

The exact M27841 manual calls for a full-size crib mattress at least 51⅝ inches long and 27¼ inches wide, no more than 6 inches thick, with no side gap beyond 3 centimeters under the instructions’ fit check. It has four support positions, and the support must be lowered when the child can pull to standing. Stop crib use when the child begins to climb out or reaches 35 inches. These conditions are about the crib stage; later arrangements have separate hardware and their own warnings.

The maker’s page offers mattress selections separately from the crib. The base M27841 listing therefore does not demonstrate that a full-size mattress is included. Treat any retailer bundle as its own package: verify the included mattress model, actual seller terms and compatibility against the M27841 manual. DaVinci describes solid New Zealand pinewood with TSCA-compliant engineered wood and claims GREENGUARD Gold certification. Those statements describe the manufacturer’s published claims, not independent testing or component analysis for this review.

Later stages require exact parts

The official product information presents crib, toddler bed, daybed and full-size bed stages. It names the M12599 toddler conversion rail and M5789 full-size bed kit, with an M26058B bunkie board for the full-size bed arrangement; the listed parts are sold separately. Check all pieces against the M27841 label and the instructions. The toddler instructions set a minimum intended user age of 15 months and a maximum weight of 50 pounds. That limit belongs to the toddler bed; it is not a blanket weight rule for the crib or full-size bed.

The crib’s 4-in-1 marketing should not be read as a promise that the later setup is already included or assembled. Full-size conversion changes the frame and support system. If a used M27841 is being considered, establish whether the correct M12599, M5789 and M26058B pieces are present, and check their actual condition and model compatibility instead of borrowing codes from M27801 or a different DaVinci crib.

How its dimensions shape the choice

Sammy Scallop Cottage is a reasonable candidate if a full-size crib is the needed first stage and a 29.25-inch outside width is useful, while its taller cottage headboard and 58.3-pound listed assembly weight suit the room and delivery plan. It is narrower than the separately documented Sammy Scallop M27801 (29.5 inches in that product’s data), yet it is not a compact or mini crib. The 42.25-inch listed height is especially relevant near windows, artwork, shelves and ceiling constraints; the source figure is a manufacturer dimension, not a measurement of an installation.

DaVinci’s exact-code SaferProducts.gov query for M27841 returned no results. That is a limited database search, not a recall or safety clearance for a specific crib. Confirm the product label, hardware, recall notices and exact manual for a used unit. No assembly, material durability or caregiver reach testing was performed for this assessment; it is a source-based comparison of the M27841 documentation and product images.
