Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does this model have a standard full-size crib arrangement?
Yes. Babyletto identifies the M5801 as a standard-size crib; its listed assembled footprint is 54 by 30.25 inches, so room and access space must be assessed separately.
Explore this need in the finder →Would the Scoot fit a maximum listed full-size crib width of 30.5 inches?
Its listed outside width is 30.25 inches, which is within a 30.5-inch product-dimension ceiling; that leaves only a quarter inch on the dimension comparison and says nothing about clearance.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the M5801 provide a documented full-size crib stage for later in the conversion system?
Yes. It is the full-size crib configuration itself, and Babyletto also names toddler-bed and daybed setups. They are successive arrangements, not simultaneous beds.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the full-size crib mattress included in the standard Scoot listing?
No. Babyletto presents a full-size mattress as a separate product add-on; a retailer's exact bundle still needs checking.
Explore this need in the finder →Research-based desk assessment, not a hands-on test. The current Babyletto record identifies the Scoot as the M5801 family: a standard full-size crib with an included toddler-bed conversion rail and a separately assembled daybed setup. Its appeal is a straightforward three-arrangement route and a listed 30.25-inch outside width. The evidence does not support calling it a bassinet, midi crib, mini crib or later freestanding full-size bed.
Resolve the model before comparing a finish
The observed Babyletto product ID 11017210510 exposes two finish SKUs: Natural Walnut M5801NL and White/Washed Natural M5801WNX. Both appear under one M5801 product record and manual, and no mechanical difference by finish is documented, so they remain one crib family.
The Natural Walnut model image and dimension graphic in this assessment are identified by Babyletto as M5801NL. Babyletto describes solid New Zealand pine, a contrasting rail detail and tapered feet, and claims GREENGUARD Gold and FSC certifications. Those material and certification statements are manufacturer claims; this review did not independently inspect the wood or audit a certification.
Three successive arrangements, not three beds at once
Babyletto calls the Scoot a 3-in-1 crib and names a full-size crib, toddler bed and daybed. Its current listing says the toddler conversion rail is included, and the M5801 manual inventories a toddler-bed kit and gives separate toddler-bed and daybed conversion instructions. Each change is a different assembled arrangement that uses the same frame; it is not three concurrent sleep spaces.
The plan is simpler than an All-Stages system: there is no documented bassinet or midi stage to bridge the early years. The listing and manual also do not establish a mini-crib setup or conversion to a separate full-size bed. The daybed should not be treated as a twin or full bed. If a smaller infant footprint, a rolling bassinet or a later standalone bed is essential, compare the exact model that supports that arrangement rather than assuming that “convertible” covers it.
One older-model bridge deserves care: the M5801 booklet labels a later section “Junior bed” and refers to M4299, while Babyletto’s previous-model table associates M5801 with an M4299W toddler kit and lists no full/twin-bed kit. This mismatch does not establish a fourth current arrangement or prove kit interchangeability; verify the exact part and manual revision for an older unit.
Check the outside width and the mattress separately
Babyletto lists assembled dimensions of 54 inches long by 30.25 inches wide by 35 inches high, plus a 60-pound assembled weight and a 52-by-28-inch interior. The width matters in the finder: a maximum of 30 inches is too small for the listed outside width, while the next available half-inch answer, 30.5 inches, admits the M5801. This is only a product-dimension comparison. It does not include the room needed for caregiver access, nearby furniture, delivery through the home or the work area for a later conversion.
The manufacturer recommends a 52-by-27.75-inch full-size mattress, and the product page presents crib mattresses as add-ons rather than as part of the standard Scoot listing. The M5801 manual requires a full-size mattress at least 51 5/8 inches long and 27 1/4 inches wide, no more than 6 inches thick, and with no more than a 3 cm side gap when pushed firmly against the crib. “Standard size” alone does not establish that a particular mattress fits. Check its label and the complete manual, and verify whether an exact retailer bundle changes what is included.
Keep the manual's limits attached to the right configuration
For crib use, the manual says to lower the support once a child can pull to standing and stop using the crib when the child begins to climb out or reaches 35 inches in height. It also instructs caregivers to check fasteners and parts before use and not to use a crib with missing, broken or damaged parts. Its warnings call for a correctly sized mattress and warn against soft bedding and additional padding.
The product page gives a general 50-pound maximum without assigning it to every configuration. After the daybed-conversion instructions, the manual sets a 15-month minimum age and 50-pound maximum for that bed. Do not transfer this warning to crib mode or infer a toddler-bed age limit; use the exact M5801 instructions for the arrangement in use. For safe-sleep setup, follow the manual and the CPSC's safe-sleep guidance.
Where this model fits—and what to verify
The Scoot is worth comparing if a household wants a full-size crib now, values the included toddler rail and has a plan for the later daybed, and can accommodate the 30.25-inch listed width plus separate clearance. It is not the narrowest full-size option in this reviewed set: Hudson M4201 and Lolly M9001 are each listed at 29.75 inches. It is 0.75 inch narrower than the 31-inch Gelato M12901, Palma, Pogo and Swell family measurements. These comparisons describe furniture dimensions, not confirmed fit in any specific room.
Before purchase, match the full finish SKU and M5801 label, check that the offered package contains the conversion rail, and determine whether its seller has added a full-size mattress. Review the current instructions and complete parts list; inspect a used or open-box frame against its model label rather than relying on the collection name. The CPSC keyword query for M5801 returned no records, but a model-name search cannot clear a production lot, serial number or secondhand unit.
