Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
At what selectable finder width does Tate first match a full-size crib start with a later full-size stage?
Delta lists the Tate W174130 at 54.25 inches wide. The finder advances by half inches, so 54 inches excludes the listed frame and 54.5 inches is the first selectable ceiling that admits it. This is an outside product dimension, not room, doorway, access or conversion clearance.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the base Tate crib package include its standard full-size crib mattress?
No. Delta says the standard-size crib mattress is sold separately. The W174130 Booklet A lists minimum crib-mattress dimensions of 27 1/4 by 51 5/8 inches and a six-inch maximum thickness; those are fit limits, not package evidence. Verify any optional seller bundle against the exact offer.
Explore this need in the finder →What should be confirmed before using a later Tate arrangement?
Delta identifies W173726 as a separately sold toddler guardrail/conversion rail. W174130 Booklet A requires its conversion rail for toddler-bed and daybed/sofa configurations, specifies the lowest mattress-support position for those later setups, and sets toddler-bed use at 15 months or older and no more than 50 pounds. Match the actual frame label to the supplied instructions and verify every required part.
Explore this need in the finder →Do finish listings mean Tate has an earlier crib mechanism?
No earlier function version was established. W174130-123 and -1482 are exact variants on the captured U.S. Cribs collection record; the separately found W174130-1481 Navy detail page shares the Tate style and same-text manual and states no longer available. Retain the finish and page distinction, but do not treat it as another function family or a stock claim.
Explore this need in the finder →This is a source-based assessment of the U.S. babyGap Tate W174130, not a hands-on review. I did not assemble, own or test a sample, inspect a shipping carton, or measure a room. The findings below come from Delta Children’s exact U.S. product records and the manufacturer-linked W174130 Booklet A. Delta’s captured Cribs collection row contains Bianca White with Natural W174130-123 and Ebony with Natural W174130-1482. Its general product copy also names Navy/Natural; I traced that to a separate W174130-1481 record whose page said “no longer available” when checked. That is not current stock information. The three identifiers preserve finish and listing history, but the records show one Tate frame family rather than three different cribs.
A compact listed width with a precise finder boundary
Delta lists the assembled Tate at 54.25 inches wide, 30.75 inches deep and 34 inches high, with a product weight of 47.5 pounds. The finder’s full-size width answer accepts half-inch steps: 54 inches is too small for the listed width, and 54.5 inches is the first selectable ceiling that admits the frame. That distinction matters if the width screen is part of a short list, but it does not mean a 54.5-inch space is sufficient for the crib. This result says nothing about side access, furniture, wall clearance, delivery through a door or space to reach the mattress. Measure the finished placement and route separately.
For a size comparison, babyGap Liam W104130 is listed at 53.75 inches wide and first enters the finder at 54 inches, while Tate is half an inch wider and first enters at 54.5. Neither comparison establishes a better room fit. Width is only one outside dimension; Tate’s 30.75-inch depth and any needed access space still matter.
Four configurations, one frame reassembled between them
Delta describes a full-size crib that can become a toddler bed, daybed and sofa. These are sequential arrangements, not four simultaneous sleep surfaces. The inspected manufacturer sources do not document a mini crib, bassinet, midi crib or adult full-size bed conversion for W174130. It therefore belongs in a full-size-first comparison, not a smaller-sleep-space search.
Three mattress-support positions are documented. Booklet A says the highest position is for convenience when the baby is very small, but it requires at least three inches between the mattress top and the front rail; if that clearance is not present, use the next lower position. Lower the support when the child can pull to standing. The manual says to stop using the crib when the child begins to climb out or reaches 35 inches, whichever happens first. Those are the source manual’s instructions, not a result of testing this crib.
Conversion hardware and mattress are separate decisions
Delta identifies toddler guardrail W173726 as sold separately. Booklet A names that style for this crib and requires a conversion rail when using the toddler bed or the daybed/sofa arrangement; it also directs those later setups to the lowest mattress-support position. The product page itself calls W173726 the sold-separately conversion rail. Do not assume “4-in-1” means the transition hardware is in every box, or that a retailer’s listing includes it. Match the exact W174130 label to the instructions supplied with the physical crib and verify the rail and fasteners before changing modes. The manual sets 15 months as the minimum toddler-bed age and a 50-pound maximum user weight.
Delta says a standard-size crib mattress is sold separately. Booklet A calls for at least 27 1/4 by 51 5/8 inches and no more than 6 inches thick for crib use. Its toddler-bed directions use the same minimum length and width but a 5 3/4-inch maximum thickness. Keep those measurements separate: fit requirements do not prove a mattress comes with a crib. The manufacturer page presents the mattress as an optional add-on, so a seller may offer a bundle, but check the exact order contents rather than treating the base W174130 crib as mattress-inclusive.
Finish records, claims and limits
The white and ebony selected variants share Delta product ID 7464838987976; the separate Navy finish is product ID 14647942742384 and variant 51724945162608. Their selected pages give the same listed dimensions, named configurations and W174130 instructions. I found no source-backed functional reason to split them into different model assessments. The Navy page’s “no longer available” notice applies to that detail-page record only. It does not establish what any seller has today.
There is a weight-field inconsistency worth keeping visible: the selected White page labels 47.5 pounds as product weight and 57.3 pounds as shipping weight, but the collection product-data record's generic White-variant weight is 57.3 pounds. The Ebony data field is 47.5 pounds, matching its selected page's product-weight label. I use only the page's explicitly labeled product-weight figure as a manufacturer claim, do not treat the White data-field value as an assembled crib weight, and do not infer a real finish-based weight difference.
Delta describes the frame as using New Zealand pine and poplar and states GREENGUARD Gold and JPMA certifications. These remain manufacturer claims; I performed no independent emissions, materials or safety testing. A narrow SaferProducts.gov ProductName=W174130 request returned an empty array. That is not a complete model, lot or serial review, recall clearance, physical inspection or safety determination.
Who should keep Tate on a shortlist?
Tate is worth comparing when the required first setup is a full-size crib, a later toddler-bed/daybed/sofa path is useful, and a listed width of 54.25 inches falls within the width limit you have measured. It is a poor match if you require a mini, bassinet or midi arrangement, documented wheels in the chosen mode, a built-in standard mattress, or an adult-bed conversion. Its three support levels and four named arrangements do not remove the work of checking clearances, mattress fit or later-mode hardware. Before buying or accepting a used frame, match the style and finish label, confirm the mattress and every rail required for the planned arrangement, and use the instructions that came with that unit.
