Room fit

Measure the room for the crib you will use later

Room fit has at least three layers: the manufacturer's outside dimensions, the sleep surface inside the frame, and the usable space around the assembled crib. A listing usually gives the first two; it cannot certify that the furniture fits a particular bedroom or passes through a particular doorway.

Write down the largest intended configuration

For a convertible crib, compare every intended setup before choosing the smallest one. Record the final full-size footprint even if the model begins as a bassinet or midi crib. If the manufacturer lists more than one set of dimensions, retain the exact label and stage rather than rounding the values into a single generic measurement.

Check access as well as the rectangle

Measure the doorway, route through the home, floor-level trim and nearby furniture. Consider whether drawers, a closet or a bed need to remain usable. These are household measurements, not manufacturer specifications; do not treat a crib's listed width as the only clearance number you need.

Keep inside measurements separate

The mattress has to fit its frame under the product's instructions. A manufacturer's stated interior crib dimensions do not replace the manual's minimum mattress size, thickness limit or gap warnings. For a small configuration, use the named manufacturer pad or a size explicitly permitted by its manual. Never add padding to compensate for a poor fit.

Allow for conversion work

A future conversion may require room to remove rails, turn panels, store hardware and reassemble the frame. If a room works only when the crib is pushed tightly against other furniture, reassess whether there is enough access to inspect fasteners and make the next setup safely. Use the exact current instructions to plan this work.

As two illustrations of why stages matter, Babyletto lists the Yuzu's bassinet, midi and full-size dimensions separately; its Astre page lists a 54.5-by-30.5-inch full-size setup, while the separate midi kit is 37 by 30.5 inches. The Astre bassinet's overall dimensions were not stated in the reviewed sources, so its smaller 28-by-18-inch pad must not be mistaken for the full bassinet footprint. These are product-specific values, not universal crib measurements. See the Yuzu assessment, the Astre assessment and the Astre product page before using exact figures.

Check your measurements against the rest of the setup
